Dream big, present and future designers!

{My mother always told me: “You are a dreamer. You always dream, dream…”}, Valentino in the documentary ‘Valentino the Last Emperor’.

As I watched this documentary, I gained a new perspective on designing fashion, on spreading the word about it, on building value. I also, answered questions I had and questions I never asked about making fashion business.

So, I warmly recommend you to watch it not once, but every time you need tremendous inspiration!

The Fashion Learning Studio

First of all we would like to present Fashionurbia to you. The name and the whole concept came to life during an interesting game. It was about identifying unfulfilled needs and unused resources in a certain place, society, in the world maybe, then see what happens if we put them together.

We have identified a resource - people’s creativity about fashion and also the need for knowledge in order to bring to life some ideas one may have in this domain. Then, putting them together we created this collaborative fashion learning studio.

We believe that learning fashion is about:

1. Passion
2. Inspiration
3. Knowledge
4. A great will

1. Passion comes with a certain native “smell” for style. That means you love to read, watch, imagine, create fashion and you can also declare that an outfit is perfect, having no research on fashion theory behind and manage to have a dozen of people agree with you.

2. Inspiration is about identifying in everything around you something that triggers a will or an idea about fashion. Seeing, hearing, reading means information and it can release ideas inside you. The more you find out, the more creative you are if following this definition of creativity: replication, selection, variation. It may be fashion history, an outfit, a runway show, a house, a landscape, a person, the stars, a traditional dish, someone’s autobiography, seeing someone working on creating something, or listening to someone talking about his work.

3. Knowledge is having the exact algorithm, following certified steps when bringing into life an idea you have. Knowledge is really important. It makes things easier, more predictable and gives us a certain comfort. But, it’s not everything. You need a little dose of craziness to dare to try something new, even if that new is unknown and uncomfortable.

4. The great will is, on our way of thinking, beyond the other elements of the learning process, because even if you may not have them, the great will makes you find them. You’ll be able to make your most creative ideas to happen even if you don’t know how.

So, we created this blog for those who are passionate about fashion, those who want to inspire and to get inspired, those who want to inform and to be informed about fashion, those who want to share and to get knowledge about fashion, and especially for all those who dream to make their most creative ideas happen even if they don’t know how to.

Welcome!
