Celebrity stylist, entrepreneur, author,  designer, mom Rachel Zoe is a fashion leader. Known for styling celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Garner amongst others,  Rachel knows fashion like the back of your own hand. She dresses herself and others impeccably and often her picks are red carpet best dressed dresses. The clothing choices are trend and are often risk taking. Rachel Zoe is  ahead of the pack when it comes to picking the “next big thing”.

Besides helping out celebrities she helps out everyday women by contributing to Piperlime with her footwear and handbag picks. Her picks range from everyday affordable items to splurges and she teaches you how to wear the looks and get the most out of them. Rachel also reaches out the masses with her own blog where she answers reader’s questions, talks about fashion and accessory picks, and how to make the most of an outfit.  In addition to the above jobs, she has designed her own line of clothing for QVC as well as recently launching a clothing line online and in high end department stores with the hopes of expanding to footwear, jewelry, accessories, and even home furnishings. If designing and styling is not enough she also is a doting mom to her son born in March 2011.

The recent clothing line launch has a mix of styles that has something that should appeal to everyone. The Fall 2011 collection has  a mix of dresses, pants, tops, and jackets/vest. Boho Chic

A large percentage of the collection can be classified as Boho-Chic. There are plenty of long sleeve silk – chiffon Maxi Dresses  with animal print pattern on them.  The dresses are all designed to be worn either on or off the shoulder and have sheer elasticized sleeves so you can wear them full length or push them up if you prefer. You can wear a belt to add so more detailing to the dresses or leave them as is. You will want to wear some sort of shoe or boot with these dresses because of the length. If you like the patterns of these dresses but not a fan of Maxi Dresses there are some great peasant blouses in the same animal prints that are also designed to be worn off or on the shoulder.

Faux Fur

If you have even watched The Rachel Zoe Project or even pay attention to fashion / gossip magazines you will be aware that fur, in particular faux fur is a favorite of Rachel’s. For her fashion collection there is a wide selection of jackets and vest that have fur on them.  One of the common features with all of the coats and vest is that they all have some sort of dramatic collar, some have a over-sized fold-over collar and others are stand up ones. The colors for them coats / vests are neutral and can easily be worn over other Rachel Zoe clothing  or any other brand.

Shoes

Rachel loves shoes. She may love them even more than clothing so it is no surprise to see that her collection includes many shoes. A large percentage of the shoes that she wears or dresses her clients in, are large platform shoes that are simple, meaning they are solid color or have very minimal detailing. Since the shoes are classic in style they will go with a large amount of a wardrobe as well as will not go out of style after a season or two.

Recently singer/designer Gwen Stefani was seen wearing the A.L.C. Luca Maxi Skirt while in Cannes with her family. Parker is a brand that is versatile.

Parker clothing is the go to brand if you are looking for something appropriate for work as well as for a night out. You can wear a Parker dress to work and be dressed appropriately as well as wear that same dress out afterwards and not look like you just came from the office. A white dress is the perfect summer staple for your wardrobe. With the exception of a wedding there really are no restrictions as to where you can wear this color. There are so many different styles of white dresses from ASOS and the best part is that they are affordable, with most being less than $100.

A white dress does have a few downfalls that you have to be aware of. You must put careful consideration into your undergarments with a white dress since they most likely will show through.  Be aware of the weather making sure to have an umbrella or a coat to throw on when it rains so you do not expose yourself if you get wet.  A white dress will show all dirt and stains so avoid wearing white if you are going to be in a dusty or dirty setting. For me polka dots always put a smile on my face. I really do not know what is is about them but I have always been drawn to dots ever since I was very young. Even today I have dots on my dishware. As much as I like dots though, for some reason, I do not have too muck clothing with dots on them but I have been on a quest to find some great dotted clothing for Spring and Summer 2011. I am particularly looking for some great polka dot dresses because I tend to wear jeans or shorts with a shirt and I am also trying to break that pattern. My favorite thing about all the polka dot dresses that I have found is that all also incorporate a second Spring 2011 trend.

The first dotted dress that I have found is the ROZAE R.N. Mixed Maxi Dress. The thing that I like the most about this dress is the mix of patterns on it. The top has a small band of polka dots followed by a section of shell shaped flowers then a vertical stripe section at the waist   ending with a polka dot skirt. The other factor that draws me to this dress is that it is a maxi dress which are high on my spring 2011 shopping list.

Another polka dot dress that I really like is Club Monaco Georgia Dress. This is a navy blue with white dots sheer dress that comes with a slip lining so there is no worry about having to find the right thing to wear under the dress. Since it is sheer it will be a great dress for summer as well.

The  Alice + Olivia Lulu Polka Dot Dress is the most feminine and girly polka dot that I have found. Not only is it pink but it has a three tiers of ruffles at the bottom and lace at the v-neck top.  This though is not a dress if you need to wear a bra because the dress has an open back.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Day Dots Dress is very different from all of the other dresses. It has multiple colprs of overlapping dots and is more casual than the others. The only think I am unsure about with this dress is the shoulders since they are so pointy. Perhaps though they will lay down a bit when worn and washed.

Ruffles are feminine and playful. With their free flowing movement they add volume and fullness to wherever they are applied on an outfit.  You need to keep in mind though that since they add dimension that if you do not want attention drawn to an area of your body that the ruffles are not in that spot. Women with a larger chest should stay away from ruffles in that area and if you are self conscious about your bottom half then stay away from ruffle skirts. If you do have a troublesome part of your body that does not mean that you can not wear ruffles. It just means that you need to keep the ruffles far from that area to balance your body out or keep the ruffles to ones on the smaller side and not big and bold ones.

A nice casual ruffle dress is the perfect choice for summer especially when there is a light breeze. The way that a light wind just makes the ruffles billow makes any woman look great.

The Juicy Couture Ruffle Denim Sundress is a simple ruffle dress with ruffles at the bottom hem and trimming the top hem as well. This is a casual dress that can be thrown on easily and you will look casual chic. Keep in mind that with the ruffles right at the top of this dress, it will draw attention to your chest.

There is nothing more feminine than florals and ruffles. The Parker Ruffle Dress in Baby Floral has both. The dress has vertical ruffles from top to bottom which means that the ruffles will not draw attention to any one area of the dress making this a great choice for everyone.

On really hot humid days the minimal amount of clothing is desired to wear so you can be as comfortable as possible. The C&C California Ruffle Tank Dress is perfect for those days. A light weight jersey dress that is very fashionable and edgy with small unfinished edged ruffle tiers and v-neck front and a racerback.

Not all ruffle dresses are short, the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Long Ruffle Slip Dress is a long maxi dress in a zulu print and has a minimal ruffled bottom hem. This is a great dress for anyone to wear.

The big trend for skirts and dresses for this Spring and Summer 2011 and beyond are  wide bottoms and with  floor length hems. This style of dress or skirt is usually called  maxi for the Latin word maximus, as in the maximum length a skirt can go.  These Maxi skirts and dresses are form fitting at the top and loose, flowing and wide at the bottom.  The look is very bohemian and was really popular starting in the1970s. Yet,  it has never fully disappeared from the fashion spotlight . The best thing about maxi skirts and dresses is their ability to work for all body types and can look good with just about any shape and size.  Another great detail about Maxis are the fabrics they are made from.  The fabrics are light weight and tend to be thin and airy making it perfect for the summer since they will not stick to you or make you hot despite the length.

With Maxi dresses and skirts there tends to be a wide selection of style and designs available to choose from. Since they are usually bohemian in style they will usually be a casual item, with lots of prints and flowers.    Though, this is not always the case with a lot of maxi skirts and dresses are designed with a more dressed up look that you can wear out at night to a dinner or a date.   In most parts though the maxi dress will remain a summer casual dress or skirt that are great for throwing on over a bathing suit after  a day at the pool as well as for a casual day of shopping or brunch with friends.

We love this fashion trend. The Maxi design and style is so simplistic and classic.  They are the epitome of a casual summer day. They pair well with sandals and large summer hats.  This is a look that has lasted years and will continue to do so allowing you greater longevity for your wardrobe.

Maxi skirts are a popular choice as well to wear. These skirts can be paired with a snugger fitting top to balance out the wider bottom of the skirt. A favorite Maxi Skirt of mine actually has multiple uses because you can wear it as a skirt as pictured below OR you can pull the skirt up all the way to make it a dress if you choose. The
