Denim is as American as apple pie and MAC Cosmetics is taking the love for denim and transforming it from clothing to makuep.  The latest line of makeup from MAC is called Jenius and is made up of  eye shadows inspired by different denim jean finishes as well as blush, lip stick/gloss, and nail polish. The eye shadow and the nail polish are really the ones connected to the look of denim but the blush and lip products are colors that complement and set off the looks of jeans. The Jenius nail polish has a great denim jean shade as well as a unique white shade of polish. The Biker Blue is a high gloss frost nail polish that is a  blue black base with blue and purple pearl sparkles . The Frayed To Order white polish is a matte creme polish with a duo chrome pink effect. The color though does dry matte losing a bit of the duo-chrome but you can put a shiny top coat over this polish to make the duo-chrome more vibrant.

The latest collection from OPI is the Texas Collection. This is  a large collection, in fact it has 12 colors in it and 6 of these colors will dry with a sorbet like finish. I was not exactly sure what was meant by that when I heard but upon further research into it I found that what this meant was the formula goes on jellylike and dries a bit translucent and is similar to an icy water based sorbet.  In fact the Texas collection is just the first one to have sorbet finishes and you can expect to see many more like this in the future. There has been a mixed reaction to these sorbet finishes. Since it is somewhat transparent it takes on average 3 coats to get  a good coverage on and it if you have long nails it looks a little strange when the sun hits because it is still see through. My nails are not too long so it looks fine to me but if you do have long nails just be cautious before you buy the whole set.

The six sorbet colors are all ones that I could see as a sorbet flavor, they all look so bright and refreshing. The sorbet colors are shades of purples, pinks, and oranges. The remaining creme finish colors of this collection are browns and neutrals and a green and a blue polish.

Every year MAC teams up with a star for their Viva Glam Campaign. MAC and the star create a limited edition lipstick(s) that 100% of the proceeds go to AIDS/HIV outreach programs. The campaign has been around since 1994 when the first Glam was Ru Paul and a single red lipstick was created. From then on the Viva Glam spokesmen have been KD Lang, Mary J  Blige , Lil’ Kim, Sir Elton John, Shirley Manson, Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, Linda Evangelista, Chloe Sevigny, Boy George, Pamela Anderson, Eve , Lisa Marie Presley, Debbie Harry, Dita von Teece , Fergie, Cyndi Lauper, and Lady Gaga. Each collection has a lipstick and occasionally a lipgloss that is bold and makes a statement like like the people that they pick for each campaign.

The 2011 campaign is Viva Glam Gaga and features Lady Gaga for the second year in a row ( last year she partnered with Cyndi Lauper) and has a lipstick and a lipgloss.  The makeup will be released on March 17th but can be pre-ordered at many stores that carry MAC.

Both the Viva Glam Gaga Lipgloss and the Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick are a classic light warm beige that can be worn together or separate. I for one was a bit surprised by the color since I do not associate Lady Gaga with subtle and classic. If you are interested in both the lipstick and the lipgloss you should buy the M·A·C ‘A Tartan Tale – Tis Noble to Give Viva Glam’ Lip Bag since it has both and comes with the tartan cosmetic bag.

As a child I loved Wonder Woman  and had the underoos  to prove it.
