Back in the 80s neon was all the rage and was everywhere. I remember having so many clothing and accessories. My favorite way to show off my love of neon was by  wearing bright zinc on my nose and lips at the pool or beach. Now 30 years later neon is back but I am not so sure about wearing all over neon clothing, but there are some great handbags and purses to use to give an outfit a bit of a retro pop to it.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Neon Handles Raffia Bag and the Cleobella Sirena Raffia Tote are both great bags to use for the beach or a casual activity. The Marc Jacobs bag is a natural braided raffia bag with either  neon yellow or neon pink double handles attached. Inside the bag is a detachable neon clutch that you can easily take out when needed and even use it in another bag or on its own. The Cleobella Raffia bag is an oversized raffia bag with a contrast neon pink or yellow trim around the top of the bag as well as  neon braided leather handles. The raffia is woven in two different pattern, a small tight one at the bottom and top, and a larger more textured one in the middle.

The Jimmy Choo Neon Bag is a super bright neon yellow acrylic shoulder bag with an asymmetrical fold over flap for closure. The strap of this purse is a long gold tone small chain link that complements the color of the bag so well. This bag would look great with a solid black dress.

I love the bright neon pink Nina Ricci Open Edge Ruffle Detail Pochette. The pochette has gorgeous gold tone hardware detail and long shoulder strap. Neon pink beads and woven leather ribbon throughout the length of the chain add detail to the purse. This bag is a great choice for day or night, since it can be dressed up or down quite easily.

Not all neon bags are a solid color, in fact, the Balenciaga Seashore Shopper Tote is a colorful and casual bag. The Seashore is a pastel blue canvas bag with green banding and neon orange trim. While the bag is quite large, there are interior pockets to stay organized. There is also a detachable light blue pouch that has patent leather neon orange trim and gold tone hardware on it. This small pouch is great to use to store your lipstick, credit card, and other small essentials. You can even take the pouch out and carry it on its own if you do not want to carry a large purse around with you.

Neon can be a bit intimidating so use it in small doses. When you carry a neon bag, make sure to keep your outfit neutral and not too colorful. The neon is very bright and you do not want to have multiple colors clashing together. These bags are all perfect for the spring and summer and a few will even carry you well into the fall so you will most definitely get a lot of use out of them.

The brand Furla has been around for over 80 years but it has really been in the last 30 years or so that the brand has really taken off.  Furla is known for their exquisite handmade handbags made from the highest quality Italian Leather. These bags are elegant, feminine, classic in style, and technically detailed. Even  though they are pricey, you are assured that the bag will stand up over time and will look just as great in a few years as the day you bought the bag. One of the styles of bags that Furla is best known for are their shopper bags. A shopper bag is a great style of bag if you tend to need to carry a lot of items with you.

The Anemone M Shopper is a crocodile print leather shopper bag that is a gorgeous blue grey color with contrasting brown trim around the top. Flat bottom feet protect this bag when set down so there will be no damage done to it. Something that makes this bag a bit unique is that it has a twist closure, while most bags zip or button closed.

Furla Handbags – Anemone M Shopper (Marang)

The Furla Carmen Shopper is a fun and casual bag. Available in 4 colors: black, white, green, and purple, this is a great everyday bag to carry.  I love the crinkle texture of the bag and the handles that are woven through the top of the bag. The bag has a magnetic closure  and interior pockets so your contents can stay very organized.

Furla Handbags – Carmen L Shopper (Avacado)

A white bag of any size is something that every woman should have at least one of. A shopper style bag is not a must but the Furla Anthea bag is a classic bag that will take you from year to year and never go out of style.  The Anthea is a smooth leather bag with twist lock closure and interior pockets to keep everything organized. If you are not comfortable with a white bag though, you can get this bag in black.

Furla Handbags – Anthea East/West Shopper (Zenzero)

Most Furla bags are all leather but the Furla Bahia bag is a canvas bag with leather accents. This is my favorite of all of the shopper bags. I love the colorblocking on the bag and the colors are perfect for spring and summer. There is no top closure for this bag but the design of the bag stays closed on its own.

Furla Handbags – Bahia L Shopper (Naturale Acai)

Since 1989 Lulu Guinness has been designing handbags and accessories  that are absolutely gorgeous and humorous at the same time.  These bags are collectible yet wearable so they look equally as good on your arm as they do displayed on your living room shelf. Often referred to as ” tomorrows treasures” many of Lulu’s bags can be seen on display in top museums around the world.  Lulu Guinness handbags are quite popular amongst the celebrity crowd as well with Helena Bonham Carter, Katy Perry,  Rachel Weisz, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, and Alexa Chung all being fans. One of the most amazing things about Lulu Guinness is that she received no formal training yet in 2009 she was awarded The Independent Handbag Designer Awards ICONOCLAST Award for Lifetime Achievement in Handbag Design.

The Lulu Guinness Studded Padded Lips Clutch Bag is a fun and whimsical bag that is in the shape of lips and covered in studs. The front is suede with studs while the back of the bag is snakeskin and the top zippers closed. This is a great bag to take out with you at night when you only need a few essentials.

Bows and metallic colors are a popular trend at the moment and the Lulu Guinness Sparkle Leather Leona Bow Wanda Bag is both. A platinum leather bag with an oversized bow at the front , this two handle bag is a great bag. It has decorative black and white stripe interior lining with a pocket inside.

Ladylike handbags as well as bags with long chain handles are popular right now and Lulu Guinness has two great bags that fit these ctriteria. First the Lulu Guinness Patent Small Emily Bag With Quilted Lips Design is a small white quilted bag that the quilting pattern is in the shape of lips. The Lulu Guinness Leather Quilted Lips Bag is a red quilted bag that also has a lip pattern but is a bit larger and roomier than the Emily. This bag though has a double buckle detailed strap.

If you are looking for a larger bag, perhaps a tote then the Lulu Guinness Large Elouise Cameo Patent Bag is the bag for you. High gloss patent with a cameo embossed on the front, the Elouise bag has two handles and is perfect for when you have a lot to carry. This would be the perfect carry on bag for a plane ride since you can put magazines and a book as well as your usual basics in it.

This year white handbags and purses are the big fashion trend.  All the major designers have been producing the most wonderful bags to go along with just about anything. The purses themselves come in all the major variety including clutches,hobos, totes or whatever you can imagine.

White handbags are a classic fashion icon. The only downside to these glamorous accessories is that they are high maintenance and you must be very careful and keep your handbag well cared for and protected for stains and scuffs can easily happen.

The upside to white handbags is that they go with absolutely everything and for any occasion. These bags are usually made of the finest and softest leathers. One of the most popular white handbags are from Chanel. These bags are often made from Ostrich leather and often out of reach of most budgets. The great thing is that a lot of designers also make wonderful white handbags that are more easily attained with a lesser price shock.  Today we are going to review some of our favorite bags for 2011 spring and summer that are in white. Fringe is everywhere this season. There are numerous fringe shoes to choose from as well as fringe clothing and jewelry. One of the best ways to show your love of fringe is by carrying a fringe handbag. There are endless possibilities when it comes to a fringe purse, you can find casual everyday bags with fringe as well as bags for special occasions including evening clutches.

The great thing about fringe bags is that they all do not look the same. Some of these bags have long thin fringe pieces all over while some have minimal fringe on them. There are plenty of short pieced fringe bags of which many of these bags have layers of fringe making them stand out in the crowd. You can find neutral color fringe bags as well as bright and bold bags. There are even fancy metallic evening fringe clutches.

I love to change my purse often and while I try to pick something new and different style, I find myself drawn to similar styles. For me nothing beats a large hobo bag. I love the cure of the bag so that my arm is comfortable and does not rub or press against the bag itself. I love that there is only one strap and I do not have to worry about keeping two straps on my shoulder.  Spring 2011 also loves the large oversized hobo bags and many of the top designers have rolled out some great hobo bags this season that I do not know which one I want the most. A great thing about many of these new hobo bags is that many come with a detachable longer strap which many women find a more desireable and functional way to carry their bag.

The Rebecca Minkoff Nikki Hobobag is bright, bold, and most importantly a functional handbag to carry this spring. Available in 8 great colors including blue, red, bling, and fuschia there are so many choices you can pick from. With both studs and buckles as the hardware, this bag is quite fashionable. Only the  highest quality leather is used for all Rebecca Minkoff bags and the Nikki is no exception.

This drawsting closure bag allows for east access to your valuables and the tassels add some great stlye to this bag.

If a large hobo is not your preferred choice when it comes to choosing a purse that is OK. There are plenty of smaller hobo style bags with long straps  and tassels that you can carry this Spring 2011 so take the design ideas and adapt them to what works for you.

Spring is just around the corner and it is not just your winter clothes and shoes that will need to go to the back of the closet. The big purse that you have been lugging all around this season should also be put away and replaced with something new. Spring 2011 purses will be small and bright so you will need to figure out what your true essentials are because that is all that is going to fit in there.

When someone says “small purse” to be the immediate vision in my head is a dainty evening clutch that hold no more than a credit card, a tube of lipstick , and perhaps a tissue or mint. The spring 2011 small bags are not THAT extreme and most of these bags have a long strap to them which is also a big trend for this season even if you can not bear to reduce the size of your bag.
