One of the most popular trends at the moment is the vintage Bohemian chic look and the brand Jen’s  Pirate Booty is one of the leader’s in this fashion trend. Unlike other brands that may have a few pieces of a collection with a Boho Chic feel or just the current season done that way, Jen’s Pirate Booty has devoted their entire design aesthetic and principal to encompassing this look and feel.

Jen’s Pirate Booty can be described as a bit of gypsy meets bohemian meets pirate. The designer, Jen Rossi, travels the world to gather materials and design ideas that portray the nomadic free spirit lifestyle. Jen takes all of these ideas and fuses them with a west coast California vibe making them fashionably, trendy, and most importantly laid back and chic.

You will find a wide array of clothing with this brand. Cotton and sheer cotton gauze are popular materials used for the clothing though you will also see plenty of lace and satin polyester used as well. Loose fits,  flutter sleeves, ruffles, and cinched waists are perfect examples of finding gypsy boho pirate looks. You can wear the tops, tunics,  and shorter dresses with an equally boho chic bottom or even with a pair of jeans to mix up your styles. For the longer full length dresses they will look great with a pair of cowboy boots, sandals, or whatever footwear you feel is appropriate.

The majority of the Jen’s Pirate Booty clothing are simple solid colors and the large selection of long Maxi dresses are no exception. The Premlata Tube Dress in River Blue or Black is a great staple dress to own. You can add colors with your shoes or accessories and will look great with a fitted waist length or cropped jacket over the dress when the weather cools down making this a year round dress to wear.  If you want a more free flowing dress but still want to keep it floor length, the Margarita dress that comes in many solid colors as well as tie-dye patterns is a great choice. This too can be worn year round with a jacket or sweater thrown on over the dress in cool weather.

Print clothing can be  a great way to incorporate many colors into your wardrobe.

Wearing a vivid print pattern will immediately liven up your outfit and draw much attention your way. Sometimes though, these patterns may be a bit much for certain occasions but there is an easy solution, watercolor prints. Water color prints tend to be a bit more muted in terms of color intensity. Another quality of water color prints is that the lines and shapes are softer, not as harsh as a tradition print. Since these prints are softer in color, they are perfect for spring and summer, though you will most likely have to put them away come fall since they are too summery.

The Shoshanna Sweetheart Strapless Dress is a great dress for spring and summer. This is a very feminine dress and is perfect for an afternoon or evening event. Made of silk-chiffon, this delicate sweetheart neckline dress with boning at the bodice has beautiful shades of pink, yellow, and green. The Twenty8Twelve Ava Romper is a very colorful romper with practically every color from the rainbow, in a muted palette. This long sleeve top with shorts bottom romper has a drawstring elastic waist and small fold-over collar. Hidden snap buttons make this romper seamless and streamlined. The cuffs of the sleeves have snaps on them allowing you to push the sleeves up to 3/4 length if you choose without worrying of wrinkling them sleeves or having them fall down to full length. In cooler weather you can wear the sleeve all the way down. You can wear this romper with practically any warm weather shoe, a flat, gladiator sandal, or heel. If you have a shoe in a color you can pull from the romper go ahead, but if not stick with a neutral or a brown shoe.

The Rebecca Taylor Watercolor Flower Camisole is a great everyday shirt that is casual but not too informal. This exposed shoulder shirt has soft watercolor floral patterns on it in shades of green, peach, blue, and pink. The ruched scoop neckline makes this a very flattering shirt. The cut out shoulders with ties give the shirt a bit of a sexy edge to it. The shirttail hem makes this shirt appropriate to wear untucked. You can wear this shirt with shorts or jeans. Pair your outfit with a pair of wedges and you are ready to go on with your day.

All of these watercolor clothes are perfect for any spring or summer activity and there are plenty more other great prints out there as well.

Stella McCartney must have been thinking of the outdoors when she designed her Spring 2011 clothing collection.  The reason I say this is that there are so many items, including, tops, jackets, skirts, shorts, and dresses that have a floral motif on them. The floral prints that she uses are not typical to what most other designers use because her flowers  look like garden scenes from a painting, and that is very unusual when it comes to most designers. Most other designers who design floral prints tend to go in a direction of cartoon like, non realistic flowers. I really love that McCartney’s flowers make you think that somewhere in the world there is a garden identical to her patterns.

Ever since I saw it on the runway I have been in love with the Coat with Floral Illustrations. This is the perfect spring time coat to wear. The colors are so vivid and it is easy to match so many other pieces of clothing. You can wear this coat over a number of different color dresses , pants and shirts, or shorts.  This  is a very attractive double-breasted button closure coat. I love the tabs on the sleeves and the oversized vent detail at the back which allows this coat to have so much movement.

I also love the Stella McCartney Jacket with Floral Print. This is very similar in pattern to the coat and the main difference is the cut and length. While the coat ends at the upper thigh, the jacket is waist length making your choice in bottoms more important since it will show more. You can wear this jacket with shorts,a skirt, or a dress. The cut out detail at the bottom center makes this a very unique coat since it allows whatever is underneath to show through even when the jacket is closed. This jacket can be worn over a shirt with the intent to remove the jacket at some point. You can also treat this as suit jacket and use a shirt underneath simply as an accent that pops through at the cut out or peeks through the sleeves or neckline.

While you can wear the Stella McCartney Jacket or Coat with whatever you would like, the pictures above are styled with other Stella McCartney floral print bottoms. The Coat is paired with the Stella McCartney Floral Print Shorts and the Jacket is paired with the Floral Print Mini Skirt. While not a necessity to wear the pairings together, I really do like them that way.

Tribal print is the use of aboriginal and native prints and patterns on clothing either as a highlight or the main pattern. Most of these prints are vibrant and warm tones and occasionally are an animal pattern.  This season many of these tribal prints are in bright, bold colors  and patterns, though there are some in more neutral palettes. The easiest way to show off this trend is with accessories since there are so many necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings but that does not mean that there are not plenty of dresses and shirts in these great patterns as well.

Tribal prints are a trend that never really ever disappears from the fashion scene. There are times that it is in the forefront more than other seasons. Spring and summer 2011 is a time that it is quite easy to find top designers who used this look in their clothing campaigns.

The Boulee Tribal Juanita Dress is a light and airy baby doll dress with a ruffle hem and adjustable straps. This dress is overall a neutral palette with tons of turquoise color popping out all over.

The Warehouse Tribal One Shoulder Print Dress is an asymmetrical dress with a longer hem in the back and flared skirt. The colors of the dress are bright, bold, and colorful. You can wear this dress as is or you can belt it if you would prefer.

Shorts are a great way to add some pattern and color to an outfit. The Stolen Girlfriends Club Anja Tribal Shorts are a high waist tie waistband short that has a great neutral tribal pattern all over. Wear these shorts with a solid shirt and a pair of high wedges.

The spring 2011 campaign for designer Diane von Furstenberg was heavily influenced by the tribal look. On eof my favorite pieces from this collection is the Diane von Furstenberg Oblixe Wrap Dress. This is a v-neck silk sleeveless wrap dress with a mix of patterns and a tassel tie waist.

The MINKPINK Tribal Dance Tunic Tank Top is a vivid tribal print in my favorite colors, pink and purple. This is a long tank top with an asymmetrical hem so you will want to wear this with a pair of jeans unless you want to cover up a pair of shorts.

Opening Ceremony shoes are known for their unique and innovative clean lines and are often seen as art. These are shoes that look equally as good on your feet as they  does out on display on a shelf.  Opening Ceremony shoes are not ones that shy away from taking risks. With one of a kind heels and vivid colors, patterns, and textures these are shoes that garner well deserving attention and will bring you lots of gawkers.

I can not say enough about how much I love the Violet Cutout Wedge Sandals. There are two great versions of this cutout heel wedge. One is the regular Violet Cutout Wedge Sandal and it comes in three great colors Coral (pictured), Cream, and Green Brown. I love the multi- straps on this sandal so much. The other cutout wedge is the Violet Knot Wedge Sandal which comes in Black, Khaki, and Indigo (pictured). This sandal has a feminine bow at the toe area. Both of the Violet sandals have a wood base so keep this in mind if you plan on wearing them for long periods of times since wood is less shock absorbing and can put pressure on your feet.

Lace is quite popular right now and Opening Ceremony has two great styles of lace shoes for Spring 2011. The Chantal Lace Platform Bootie is a leather platform bootie that is covered with lace all over. This is a great shoe if you are wanting a feminine menswear look and would look great with a pair of flare jeans or pants. The other lace shoe, the Chantal Lace Platform Pump is a great heel shoe that is ultra feminine with the crochet lace overlay. I love the platform at the toe area and each Chantal has a great shaped heel.

Cork is another big trend right now and Opening Ceremony has a few cork shoes to choose from . The Chantal Strappy Platform Bootie is a cork platform shoe that has a lizard embossed leather multi straps. The color of the cork and the leather really complement one another and this is a great neutral colored shoe. If you really want to go all out with cork this season, the Stefania Cork Lace Up Booties are a shoe for you. These Booties have a cork base as well as cork uppers. I love the open toe as well as the cutout in the back of these booties so much.

There are plenty of other great Opening Ceremony shoes for Spring/Summer 2011 that you should definitely check out, you do not want to miss out on these artistic wearable shoes.

While warm weather makes many  want to wear dresses and skirts there are times when you may want to wear pants or even shorts. There are others who prefer a pant over a skirt or dress all the time. The problem though with pants, especially at the height of summer, is that it is so hot that pants can be uncomfortable to wear. The solution for this problem is a cropped  leg pant.

Khaki pants should be a staple in everyone’s closet but many Khakis are big and baggy and not fashionable and stylish.  The Club Monaco Renay Cropped Pants are a simple basic yet stylish  pant that can be worn with almost anything. Though they are called Khaki they are more of a peachy pink beige color.

Though they are not a true nautical pant, the Cut 25 Cropped Pant has that feel due to the color and the buttons. These pants are a comfortable slouchy pant that features a jersey inset. These pant are the perfect balance of a slim fit and a wide leg pant.

A wide leg pant is not a simple buy. You need to be careful if you are not tall because a wide leg cropped pant can easily make you look shorter and wider than you are so this style pant is really best for women who are medium to tall stature. If you want to wear a wide leg pant the Diane von Furstenberg Bananarama pants are a great choice. These pants are pleated palazzo pants in a great Anthracite color.

Cargo pants have been around for many seasons now and there is not a lot of change to them from one season to the next so they have become a true staple for the closet. There are a lot of different styles of cropped cargo pants from loose and baggy to slim and fitted and everything in between. There are even a lot of pants that are designed to be worn full length or can be rolled up to make them a cropped pant.

Cropped pants for the most part will work for all shapes and sizes but keep in mind that if you are petite that the wider style cropped pants will make you appear shorter than you really are. Enjoy the summer wearing cropped pants knowing that you are comfortable and in style wearing them.

Spring officially starts in just a few days and it is time to put away sweaters and heavy weight pants and pull out shorts and light weight skirts. My present collection of shorts is quite basic, in fact I have a few pairs of denim shorts as well as a few basic color regular shorts but this season there are so many wonderful print shorts to wear.

The key for getting a lot of use out of a print short is to make sure that they are versatile.  Pick a simple black and white short and you can pair them with practically any solid color and possibly other print shirts. You can also try to find a very colorful print short so that you can pick up on one of the colors from the shorts and wear a shirt in that color to tie it together.

The Tory Burch Kevin Shorts are a great basic pattern short because they are not overly crazy with color and the pattern, while quite busy, is not distracting.

Floral prints are everywhere this season and the Sachin + Babi Masha Shorts is a great pair of floral shorts if you, especially if you prefer a pair of short longer in length. These shorts have a beautiful grosgrain along the length of the hips as well as the pockets. I love the bottom of the leg holes where they tie.

Perhaps you are looking for a pair of shorts that are very bold and bright. If that is the case then you should consider the Nanette Lepore Tattletale Shorts.

The pair of shorts that I have my eye on at the moment are the L.A.M.B. Gingham Drawstring Shorts. I love the overall shape and cut of the shorts and really love the contrasting gingham trim.

This year flare is a big trend and not just in pants and denim. Japanese style kimono shirts and coats are also a very big trend this year. Kimono styles use large bell flared sleeves and many times infuse Japanese style graphics in the clothing.

I personally love this trend and with the disaster of the earthquake and tsunami hitting Japan there is no better way of us showing our solitary with the Japanese people then honoring them through our style and keeping them in our hearts.

Kimono fashion goes great with many fashion styles from harem pants, to flare pants and long skirts. Jewelry also looks great with kimono, especially pearls and stacked bangles.

One of my favorites this year is Bird by Juicy Couture Sayuri Kimono Jacket. This silk print jacket goes great with harem and slouch pants as shown in the photos. Great jacket, very stylish and great to layer in the spring.

Another favorite is the Issa long Kimono dress. This beautiful dress is stunning. It infuses both the long dress tend and the kimono trend in one. Light and airy this is the perfect spring dress and can be worth wedges or flat sandals.

Riller & Fount Mama Kimono wrap is a low profile kimono. You barley can tell it is a kimono wrap until you see the sleeves. This is for the person who wants to wear the great trend but not so boldly .

When I think of a romper and jumpsuits I think about the 70s and 80s when they were at their height of popularity. Television shows like Three’s Company and Charlie’s Angels often had their stars wearing a romper or a jumpsuit. These fashions carried over into the 80s and characters from Dynasty and Falcon Crest worn belted jumpsuits with big shoulders. By the mid to late 80s the jumpsuit and romper trend seemed to go away with the exception of one piece rompers for young girls.   While the jumpsuit and romper never fully went away there was a long period of time when they were few and far between. Now though, in 2011, these jumpsuits and rompers seem to be making a comeback.

The first big sign for me that jumpsuits and romper were on the way back into fashion was when I started seeing celebrities like Nicole Richie, Rhianna , and Sarah Jessica Parker photographed in one more and more frequently.  I started paying attention for more of these styles to be showcased and over time the searches became easier and easier to find. I am not saying that jumpsuits and rompers are taking over as the “IT” item but they are becoming more accessible to buy.

The Halston Heritage  Boatneck Jumpsuit reminds me of something out of Sex And The City and understandably so since the creative director of Halston Heritage is Sarah Jessica Parker. This is a jumpsuit that can be worn at night and would be perfect at dinner by the ocean.

A great casual jumpsuit is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Indigo Knit Jumpsuit. This jumpsuit is a comfortable and casual choice for a hot day.

If you want a really fashionable jumpsuit, the Diane von Furstenberg Charmaine Cover Up Jumpsuit fits the bill. This jumpsuit has ruffles, tassels on the belt, and split legs
