284 Comments 30 April 2011

With the announcement for the New China Crackle Glaze Metals coming out it made me think that I want to do all that I can to get the word out about how great these crackle polishes are. When the original China Glaze Crackles were released back in February they started flying off the shelves and have been so hard to locate ever since. I am so in love with the 6 colors in this collection that I want to give a loyal reader a chance to experience these great polishes.  I could not pick my favorite color to giveaway so instead I want to give all 6 of the original colors away.

Exclusive China Glaze News – Crackle Glaze Metals To Be Released This Summer

3 Comments 20 April 2011

I have such exciting news for nail polish fans, especially ones that are lovers of China Glaze Crackle.   After talking to China Glaze earlier today, I was told that the 6 current crackle colors are not all the  crackles that will be released.  Sometime later this summer, most likely mid to late July or August,  a 6 piece metallic crackle collection will be released in the US but it will debut in Europe on June 15th 2011.

Right now the exact colors and names are still being worked on so there is not too much information at the moment though the collection is called Crackle Glaze Metals.  They would not even tell me what the shades would be but I  do know from the above picture that one color is gold. I would imagine though that there will be a silver and hopefully the other colors will be bright metallic hues.

When I tried to get more information and a request for pictures or products, I was told that the way China Glaze works is that the European market gets the line first and pending some feedback that the colors receive, China Glaze will then  release the line here in the United States.   They also told me that the exact shades of these colors has not been decided on  so that is another reason there are no pictures available  yet.

I have to say that  I am a bit jealous of you  readers from  Europe who will be getting these great colors first. while those of us in the US will have to wait a couple of weeks or months longer.  I hope that if any of you get your hands on any of these colors or see any images that you will let me know or send images to me so I can pass along all the information. As the line comes out in Europe and a more firm US release date is announced I will be updating everyone with everything that I find out.

On a side note: When talking to China Glaze I inquired about the shortage of the current Crackle colors and was told that they are working  really hard to get the supply in. A lot of problems with nail polish is that it has to be shipped in from overseas and this takes a while. China Glaze does say though that a large supply of it will be available in mid May so the wait is almost over.

Since this is such exciting news make sure to follow us on Google Friend Connect, Twitter, Facebook, or subscribe to our feed so you are the first to know more about China Glaze Crackle Glaze Metals  and other exclusive products from other top companies.

****UPDATE  Through further sleuthing I have been able to find NOT ONLY  the color names BUT swatches of the colors ******

Sneak Peek : China Glaze Let It Snow Nail Polish Collection Winter 2011

No Comments 12 April 2011

The excitement for all the new Spring and Summer nail polish colors are in full swing, and  thoughts of winter 2011 are  nowhere on the immediate radar.  China Glaze though,   is giving us a sneak peek of what to expect from them with their Winter 2011 Let It Snow Nail Polish Collection.  Like most of their other collections, this one is 12 colors. There have not been much released in terms of details but from the pictures it looks like the colors are a mix of cremes, shimmers, and glitters.

China Glaze Let It Snow Swatches

It looks like the majority of the colors are a glitter or a shimmer with only 4 of the colors being a creme finish. The creme colors are : Holly-Day ( a deep evergreen ), Velvet Box ( a rich dark burgundy), Winter Berry  ( an orange-red ), and Poinsettia ( a red  maroon ). The remaining 8 colors are either a glitter or have a shimmer to them though without full bottle swatches it is a bit hard to tell if a few of the colors are a glitter or a shimmer.

I am very intrigued to learn more about Twinkle Lights which looks like it is a  gold glitter with fleck of what I think are red and green in it. Snow Globe  also looks to have red and green flecks in a possibly white shimmer base. Glittering Garland looks to be a similar base color to Holly-Daze but has white or silver glitter in it. Tinsel Town looks to be a true glitter, in fact it looks like little pieces of tinsel are in the polish. I am not certain but I think that Champagne Bubbles, Ring In the Red, Blue Year’s Eve, and Icicle are each a shimmer polish though they may be a glitter.

Enjoy the swatches of the China Glaze Let It Snow Collection that will be released in September 2011. As we approach the launch date and more details and swatches are released there will be more information about these colors.

While OPI’s  Fall 2011 Nail Polish Collection Touring America is highlighting all of America, China Glaze is concentrating in New York City with its Fall nail polish. The China Glaze Metro Collection is made up of : 3 shimmers, 7 cremes, and 2 glitters. There are a wide variety of colors in the Metro Collection so there should be at least one color that captures your interest. All of these colors are trendy and will be perfect for your nails or toes this fall. Since the polish will not be out for a few more months, there are no actual bottles to swatch so the colors will have to be analyzed  with  the pictures released.

So apparently the 12 piece Anchors Away Collection is not the only Summer 2011 Nail Polish Collection we have to look forward to by China Glaze.  Set to be released  this summer is a 6 piece nail polish set called Island Escape. This collection is what Spring and Summer 2011 are all about in my mind because they are  bright and bold colors that will make your nails shine.

Yellow Nail Polishes Including Chanel Mimosa : A Hot Trend for 2011

4 Comments 03 March 2011

Yellow is a color that can brighten the cloudiest of days.  It is bright and cheerful but it is also a color that some shy away from. The problem with yellow is that if your skin tone is really pale and you wear certain shades of yellow it will make you look washed out so it is best to wear a deep yellow it will warm you up. If you have a tan or a darker complexion then a paler yellow is your best bet.

The thing is though that wearing yellow clothes is fairly easy and you can add accessories and other colors to break up the yellow palette to make the outfit work with your complexion but when it comes to nail polish it is a bit harder since it is literally against your skin. You can obviously avoid this problem by not wearing a yellow nail polish but the thing is there are so many great yellow polishes to choose from. By cutting yellow from your collection you are truly missing out on something great.  The key to wearing a yellow polish is to know your skin tone and make sure to choose the right one for you. not just the hottest color that everyone else is wearing.

Chanel makes some wonderful nail polishes or as they refer to them Le Vernis Nail Colour. The formulas and colors that they use for their polishes are absolutely exquisite and a bit pricy so make sure that you do not pick a yellow polish on a whim and you make sure that it works on you. There are not too many choices of Chanel Le Vernis, the first is Chanel Robertson LA Sunrise #287 Le Vernis Nail Polish which was a limited edition color 2 years ago so it is a bit hard to find and more expensive than a normal Chanel polish but is really a great lemon yellow with a bit of a silver shimmer. For 2011 Chanel is releasing Mimosa. This color is also a lemon yellow and has yellow and orange shimmer with a few fleck of green mixed in. Overall than the Mimosa is a bit lighter and more shimmery than the LA Sunrise.

I love Deborah Lippmann Glitter Polishes and have not tried any “traditional” ones so I am not an expert with overall look, application, and overall wear but I have not heard many complaints about these polishes too much. The  Deborah Lippmann Yellow Brick Road icon nail polish was just released on  April 1st  and is already flying off the shelves.  The color is a sheer jelly yellow. This is the color that Lady Gaga was wearing for her Grammy performance last month.  Yellow Brick Road was not supposed to be released until later in the year but with the popularity of requests after Lady Gaga wore it the release date was pushed up.

While the above polishes are are great, the fact is that they either have not been released yet or are hard to find so perhaps you want to find a great yellow to start wearing now. The NARS Desperadoiconis a rich golden yellow and should work for all skin tones.

Butter LONDON is another brand that has a great yellow polish that is already available. The butter LONDON Cheeky Chops is a pale creamy yellow.

Other great brands of Nail Polish that have yellows currently are OPI, China Glaze, and Zoya. These are brands that have a polish that is under $10 which is great when buying a color that you may only wear a few times before retiring. icon

Giuliana Rancic in Christian Siriano = China Glaze Crushed Candy?

Guiliana Rancic Oscar Academy Awards Dress

Giuliana Rancic picked a Christian Siriano dress to wear for the red carpet interviews for the 83rd Oscars, February 27, 2011. Apparently this dress was sent to her as a possible wear for the SAG awards earlier this year but she felt that it was a bit too big and dramatic for those awards. This dress is a big departure for her in terms of style. She usually wears a shorter and simpler dress but was really excited to try something new and different. When I first turned on the TV and saw this dress I immediately said that it reminded me of China Glaze Crushed Candy Crackle Polish over a black polish. The pattern really does look like this crackle effect which is a good thing in my eyes because I love the crackle look on nails.

While the Christian Siriano dress is amazing, the truth is that it is not too practical or affordable but you can always buy the China Glaze Crushed Candy Polish to get this look. Am I alone with this connection? Please let me know in the comments below.

OPI Shatter and China Glaze Crackle Nail Polishes

OPI Shatter and China Glaze Crackle Nail Polishes

3 Comments 02 February 2011

I love nail polish. I am constantly buying tons of colors and changing the polish on my nails at least twice a week, sometimes even more.  I am not one of those women though that goes all out with crazy patterns, jewels, or the latest crazy Konad Stamps on  my nails. First of all I do not have the time to spend a long time on my nails. Second, I am not talented enough to paint a design on my nails. Third, and most importantly, my hands are not steady enough to do such intricate and detailed patterns.  With that being said, I have found a way to make my nails look unique and different from a simple bottle application of polish.  My new favorite is…..crackle polish by China Glaze and Shatter Polish by OPI

Crackle polish has been around for some time now though it has not really gone mainstream until now due to the fact that previous releases have not been made with the best formulas so they did not crack right. In the early 90s Cover Girl had a white crackle( They may have had more colors )  polish that I owned and I remember it not working so well. If memory serves em correctly i think I got like one crack and the rest was a solid. What a difference 20 years can make in terms of new and improved formulas.   With both OPI and China Glaze releasing versions of a crackle polish there should not be a shortage of these polishes to use. To get the best results with your crackle polish you should apply it only when your nails are completely dry, in a  thin coats so it cracks better, and you must put a top coat on after because the formula of the crack polishes flakes off easily otherwise. You can use thick layers of these polishes if you would like less cracks on your nails though.

OPI was the first to the market in releasing a black shatter nail polish, when it hit stores in the middle of January. The shatter nail polish  is a collaboration with Katy Perry and OPI and is called Shatter. It also has been sold as part of the Serena Glam Slam Simply Smash-Ing & Black Shatter. This black crackle polish is great over a bright color polish like hot pink, yellow, or blue as well as over a very pale color like pastel pink or purple. This black is also great over a white polish.  Many of the colors in the OPI Shatter Katy Perry Collection are a glitter polish and while the shatter looks good with them as well, I much prefer it over a not shimmering polish. A new shatter color will be released as part of the Glam Slam Collection for each of the Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments to be played this year. A Red Shatter with a Rally Pretty Pink Polish as well as a White  Shatter with a Glittery Gold Spark de Triomphe will come out for the French Open. For future tournaments, Wimbledon and the US Open, shatter colors will be a turquoise, a blue, and a navy shatter polish but no information as to which tournament they are connected to or what color they will be paired with. There also will be a silver shatter released as part of the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection.

China Glaze Crackle has been around since its mid February release date. There are 5 different crackle colors in this series. Lightning Bolt (white),Crackled Concrete (grey), Black Mesh (black), Crushed Candy (blue), Broken Hearted (pink), and Fault Line (purple). My favorites are the white Lightning Bolt and the Grey Crackled Concrete. I am also considering the Broken Hearted  and the Crushed Candy since I have many nail polishes in my collection that these crackles will complement. While I like the purple Fault Line I do not plan on buying it since many of my current polishes are a purple and I do not think that the China Glaze Crackle will work well with what I have. The black I am avoiding because I want lighter more summery colors and black is most definitely not that. I am confident that these polishes will be around for a while and I can always get the black later on. I am curious though if there will be more colors released since OPI will be releasing a red, a silver, a turquoise, and a navy shatter later this year.

Both colors have been out for a while now and if you have not purchased a shatter/ crackle polish but are wondering how the two brands compare I can tell you that both are equally as good and in a blind test would not be able to differentiate between the two once dry. It really comes down to if you prefer one brand over the other. The OPI does seem to dry a bit faster than the China Glaze Crackle and also the OPI is a bit thinner than the crackle so the cracks are more defined but you can easily control the China Glaze Crackle so you paint it on thinner.
