Colorblock Nails With White Texture Topcoat Manicure

2 Comments 24 June 2011

By now most people are aware of all of the shatter/ crackle nail polishes that are out there and Nicole by OPI the latest to jump into the game. Their polish dries in a graffiti finish with each application looking different from the next.  I have tried a few of these different types of polish and Nicole by OPI most definitely goes on the smoothest and easiest of them all. Each nail “graffitied” great and there is not a single one I am disappointed with.

When I recently was sent some Nicole By OPI Texture nail polish I wanted to wear it but not just the normal way of putting it on over a single color. I went through my nail polish collection and found some colors that would look great together but at the same time might be a bit bold ( for me at least ) to wear on their own. I wanted to create a multi color nail that would be the background for this new texture polish. I also was inspired by the colorblock look that is oh so popular right now. I decided to experiment and see how 4 colors with a texture over it would look. I figured the worst that could happen would be that I would have to take it off and figure out a new approach.

The first thing I did was find the colors I wanted and I decided on ZOYA Perrie(purple), Yummy (blue), Sweet(pink), and Creamy(yellow)

After a clear base coat was put on I painted each of may nails with all of the colors. I started with Perrie and painted a small section on  each nail, with each one being a bit different than the next. I waited a few minutes for it to dry a bit and Yummy was next. After waiting for it to dry I painted on the Sweet followed by Creamy. When I was done this is what it looked like. I was not concerned about if the nails looked perfect because I knew that the Texture coat would cover any imperfections.

When I painted my nails it was late in the day so I decided to let my nails dry completely for the night and start with the Texture Coat. This way, not only was I sure that my nails dried, but I was able to take some pictures outside in the natural light.

The next day I put on a coat of the Nicole by OPI White Texture Nail Polish and this is the outcome. Since I wanted to ensure that the Texture went on without any problems I wiped each nail with little bit of rubbing alcohol to make sure there were no oils or anything on my nails. After the White Texture Coat I let my nails dry for about 5 minutes then put on a top coat.

While this manicure could have easily been done on one sitting I really wanted to photograph it all in the best light possible. I also have the Black, Red, and Gold Nicole by OPI to play around with so be sure to come back and see what special manicure I do with them.

Zoya Faye – Sunshine Collection 2011

If you haven’t noticed by now, I am in love with Zoya’s new Summer Collections.  I have to say the Sunshine Collection is my favorite with colors of Faye, Apple, Riva, Reca, Kimmy and Tanzy.  Today I will be talking about Faye from the Sunshine Collection.  Zoya describes her as:  A bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones flooded with bright gold sparkle.  A unique gilded shade that will work in any season.  On Zoya’s Intensity Scale, they classify her as a level 4 (1-5 in opaqueness).

I used the Color Lock System from Zoya.  I always start off by cleaning my nails with Remove Plus then one coat of Anchor, 3 coats of Faye, one coat of Armor and the Fast Drops Polish Drying Drops.  Application was flawless.  As you can see from my picture below, Faye made my camera go crazy with all the color/sparkly goodness.

Zoya has a Promotion going on until June 28th, you can read more about it on their website and blog.

You can also see what other polishes that I’m wearing this summer on my blog as well as enter a chance to win one of 6 gift packs:  Midnight Manicures.

What are your thoughts about what colors are good for summer polishes or does it matter what time of year you wear certain colors?

Recently I purchased the Sunshine Collection, it was one of three collections released this summer by Zoya. My favorite of the whole collection is Apple.   Zoya describes it as:  Luminous yellow-toned apple green packed with gold metallic sparkle.  A dimensional green that’s clean and bright.  The application with this polish was flawless and will go with so many of the summer fashions this year.  Zoya is one of the big 3 free polishes and can be purchased retail for $8 each.  You can’t beat the wear time on their polishes.  Here’s a picture of it on my nails.

What are your thoughts about Zoya Apple

Hi Everyone,
This is my first blog for Fashion Urbia, my name is Jeanie and I’m from the beautiful state of NC. I am 46 years old, yes…a little older than most fashion/beauty bloggers.   But I know what I like and I have a teenage daughter to help me keep up with fashion trends for all ages.

Today I wanted to show you one of my favorite nail polish brands, Zoya.  I chose Breezi from the recently released Summertime collection.  Zoya describes her as: Soft, dusty, dirty medium cerulean blue with an opaque cream finish. A super chic high-fashion denim look for nails in a cool tone.  On their 1-5 opaque scale she is ranked 5.   Two coats and the coverage was totally opaque.

I love using the whole Zoya/Qtica nail care system.  I used a coat of Qtica Natural Nail Growth Stimulator for my base, 2 coats of color and Zoya Armor top coat.  The results are amazing and the wear time on this polish is one of the best.  Zoya is one of the big 3 free companies which makes their polishes even more special to me.

You can see and follow my personal blog at Midnight Manicures.  Thanks for taking your time to read this blog, please leave comments, I love to read them.
