Just in time for the holiday season, Butter London has announced their Holiday 2011 collection. There are 3 great, unique colors in this limited edition collection that you will put on your must have list.

Fairy Lights is the first color in the collection and in case you did not know faily lights are what the British call small white Christmas tree lights. While it does not look like a white light, it definitely has a holiday feel to it. Fairy Lights has a metallic chrome formula so it will look like a rosy pink foil was applied to your nails when you wear this polish. This is the perfect color to show off your holiday spirit but it also is a great color that will be perfect spring and summer, allowing you to definitely get a lot of wear from this color. Remeber this and the other Holiday 2011 colors are limited edition so make sure you hurry out and buy yours today.

A Tart With A Heart is a nice way of saying a hooker with a heart or gold or a fallen woman with a kind soul but for some reason Butter London associates  this phrase with the holiday season. In any case, the color of this polish is amazing. It is a pale pink glitter with a bit of grey to tone done the girlishness and add an edge to the polish.  This is another color that is perfect for the holidays as well as will be a great shade to wear in the spring and summer.

Besides being the third ( and best  shade in my opinion) Butter London Holiday 2011 color, The Black Knight  is also the name of a beloved character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This polish is a black base with pink, blue, silver, and black suspended in it. This reminds me of Christmas lights at night as they twinkle in the darkness. I love this color and will definitely be buying this shade

While the most talked about butter LONDON nail polish for the spring and summer 2011  season has been No More Waity Katie, there are 5 other colors that are just as great and are worth buying. These colors cover a bit of all the currant color trends that are so popular. There are three  neutrals : a pale sheer pink, a nude beige, and a must have grey.  Also included in this spring summer 2011 collection is a vibrant blue and a one of a kind green.

Butter London Lady Muckbutter LONDON Lady Muck

butter LONDON Lady Muck is a powder  periwinkle blue grey  nail polish with pearlesque sheen to it. The shade of grey is like a spring blue sky when storm clouds are rolling in.  This color is is a great shade of grey and it will go with so many outfits without overpowering them. The slight blue undertone sets this polish apart from other true greys. Lady Muck is a color that will be great in the fall.

Butter London Teddy Girlbutter LONDON Teddy Girl

butter LONDON Teddy Girl is the quintessential pink polish that everyone should own. This pale shade of pink is a retro bubblegum pink  color. While it may sound strange, I would describe this color as a bright pale pink meaning that is the overall shade is pale but the intensity of the color is very strong. This is a go to polish if you want something that is neutral enough to not overpower your clothing but have enough color to show that you are wearing nail polish. This shade of pink reminds me of early spring and the light pink flowers in bloom.

Butter London Blagger
butter LONDON Blagger

Blagger  is my favorite of all the butter LONDON Spring Summer 2011 colors. This shade of blue is a cobalt royal blue creme polish. The formula of this color is strongly pigmented and one coat gives your nails ample coverage, though two coats are suggested for good measure.  Blagger is a color to wear when you want attention drawn your way. It is great with a neutral outfit as well as clothing that is colorful. This shade of blue is like a cloudless summer sky.

Butter London Doshbutter LONDON Dosh

Dosh is a great butter LONDON color and I normally do not get drawn to green nail polish. I think the reason why I love this color so much is that it is such an interesting, one of kind shade of green. The best way to describe Dosh is that it is a yellow green polish with gold and green flakes of shimmer. While not a neon green, this color is very bright like a golden sunset on lush grass.

Butter London Hen Partybutter LONDON Hen Party

Hen Party is a sheer pearlesque peachy pink polish that can be worn alone to give your nails a bit of color or is great layered over another shade of polish. This is a very safe color that you will get a lot of wear from, especially if you have a conservative job that frowns upon vibrant nail polish colors.  A true summer  color that reminds me of a sandy beach.

All of the colors are spring colors and are appropriate for this time of year and many will be great for the fall as well. butter LONDON Spring Summer 2011 collection is limited so make sure to go out and buy your favorite shade(s) right away because you will be upset if you miss out. Yellow Nail Polishes Including Chanel Mimosa : A Hot Trend for 2011

4 Comments 03 March 2011

Yellow is a color that can brighten the cloudiest of days.  It is bright and cheerful but it is also a color that some shy away from. The problem with yellow is that if your skin tone is really pale and you wear certain shades of yellow it will make you look washed out so it is best to wear a deep yellow it will warm you up. If you have a tan or a darker complexion then a paler yellow is your best bet.

The thing is though that wearing yellow clothes is fairly easy and you can add accessories and other colors to break up the yellow palette to make the outfit work with your complexion but when it comes to nail polish it is a bit harder since it is literally against your skin. You can obviously avoid this problem by not wearing a yellow nail polish but the thing is there are so many great yellow polishes to choose from. By cutting yellow from your collection you are truly missing out on something great.  The key to wearing a yellow polish is to know your skin tone and make sure to choose the right one for you. not just the hottest color that everyone else is wearing.

Chanel makes some wonderful nail polishes or as they refer to them Le Vernis Nail Colour. The formulas and colors that they use for their polishes are absolutely exquisite and a bit pricy so make sure that you do not pick a yellow polish on a whim and you make sure that it works on you. There are not too many choices of Chanel Le Vernis, the first is Chanel Robertson LA Sunrise #287 Le Vernis Nail Polish which was a limited edition color 2 years ago so it is a bit hard to find and more expensive than a normal Chanel polish but is really a great lemon yellow with a bit of a silver shimmer. For 2011 Chanel is releasing Mimosa. This color is also a lemon yellow and has yellow and orange shimmer with a few fleck of green mixed in. Overall than the Mimosa is a bit lighter and more shimmery than the LA Sunrise.

I love Deborah Lippmann Glitter Polishes and have not tried any “traditional” ones so I am not an expert with overall look, application, and overall wear but I have not heard many complaints about these polishes too much. The  Deborah Lippmann Yellow Brick Road icon nail polish was just released on  April 1st  and is already flying off the shelves.  The color is a sheer jelly yellow. This is the color that Lady Gaga was wearing for her Grammy performance last month.  Yellow Brick Road was not supposed to be released until later in the year but with the popularity of requests after Lady Gaga wore it the release date was pushed up.

While the above polishes are are great, the fact is that they either have not been released yet or are hard to find so perhaps you want to find a great yellow to start wearing now. The NARS Desperadoiconis a rich golden yellow and should work for all skin tones.

Butter LONDON is another brand that has a great yellow polish that is already available. The butter LONDON Cheeky Chops is a pale creamy yellow.

Other great brands of Nail Polish that have yellows currently are OPI, China Glaze, and Zoya. These are brands that have a polish that is under $10 which is great when buying a color that you may only wear a few times before retiring. icon

New Spring 2011 butter London Nail Polish + No More Waity Katie

As much as I love fashion and clothing, I have to say my biggest love is with nail polish. I love to constantly try new colors and brands of nail polish. One of my new favorite brands is butter London. This is a brand that is based out of London and prides itself on being a Big 3 Free brand. It is also a very fashion forward brand who is known for creating colors on the spot for designers backstage at runway shows.
The Spring 2011 nail line for butter London covers all the trends for the season. It is just being released to the US so you may have to do some searching for it or have to wait a bit but I assure you that it is most definitely worth the wait.

Another butter London color to look forward to will be released in the beginning of March and it HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED  was created in honor of Kate Middleton, the future princess to be. Called No More Waity Katie, this color is a shimmery mauve purple  polish and is a play on the fact that her and Prince William have been together for 8 years before getting engaged.
