We Are Handsome Swimsuits For Summer 2011

1 Comment 07 July 2011

We Are Handsome are not your typical swimsuits. While most brands have a wide variety of styles and cuts for their swimsuits, We Are Handsome concentrates on the art meets fashion side of swimwear. We Are Handsome uses the fabrics in their swimsuits as a  canvas and all of their bathing suits have vivid graphic prints of images and scenery on them.

While they make some great two piece swimsuits, I love their deep back bathing suits because they have the most amount of fabric to be covered with the images.  Do not worry though that these swimsuits are going to have too much fabric because the backs are cut very deep and the necklines are not that high. You will still look sexy in these bathing suits. In fact you will probably draw more attention to yourself than if you wore a typical bikini from another company.

The We Are Handsome The Hollywood Scoop Back One Piece has an image of the late James Dean with a cigarette in him mouth against a sunset. The reds oranges and yellows just make you think of being at the beach and James Dean is such a well recognized person that you will most definitely draw lots of attention to yourself when wearing this suit. The back continues with the theme from the front.

Sticking the the theme of the West Coast the We Are Handsome The Los Angeles Scoop Back One Piece has shades of pink and purple as a backdrop for an airplane landing into the LA skyline surrounding by palm trees and telephone lines. This swimsuit also has a very deep back and the back of the suit continues with the images on the front.

The image on the We Are Handsome The Miami Scoop Back One Piece has a vintage look to it. A vintage 1950s pink Cadallic with its top down has the backseat of the car turned into a pool and has a woman in a yellow bathing suit lounging in the water while being driven around by a sunglasses wearing man. The front of the Cadillac can be seen in the back of the swimsuit as well.

The We Are Handsome The Arabia Bandeau is a bit different than the previously mentioned swimsuits. This bandeau style bathing suit can be worn tied around the neck or tied in a knot and worn strapless. The background from this swimsuit is a bright cloud filled blue sky and has an Arabian Horse galloping across the desert. The back of the suit goes to the mid back and the desert and sky covers the back of the swimsuit.

Preppy Plaid One Piece and Two Piece Bathing Suits

Preppy Plaid One Piece and Two Piece Bathing Suits

Plaid is a pattern that has long been associated with the preppy look. Golfers and tennis players have been wearing this pattern for a long time but it was in the 1980s when this pattern really went mainstream. Movies like Caddyshack, 16 Candles, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off all had at least one character wearing a plaid pair of shorts or shirts. You can still find great plaid clothing some 30 years later but my personal favorite way to wear plaid now is with a one or two piece bathing suit. The colors of plaid clothing in the past was mainly pastel colors or traditional blues and reds but now the plaid swimwear has become more adventurous and includes vibrant colors like pink, purple, and green.

Though plaid was in its heyday in the ’80s, its popularity really started in the 1950s. The Rainbow Graph One Piece Swimsuit is a great preppy, vintage inspired suit that is very figure flattering. Low legholes, a halter top, ruching on the sides, and a pale pastel plaid pattern make this suit the perfect blend of vintage and modern prep look. This suit is available in a plus size version as well as regular and plus size two piece swimsuit.

The GUESS Plaid About You Bikini is a fun and frilly modern two piece bathing suit in a bright plaid pattern. Available in both a triangle, a halter style bikini top, or a tankini all three have ruffle detailing on them. For the bottoms you can choose between a standard cut bottom or a side tie bottom that happens to have a ruffle trim. I love two piece suits that are sold as separates AND offer different styles and cuts to choose from.

Though the ’80s prepsters were conservative and not known for wearing neon colors, the modern preps of today are open to these colors. The FULL TILT Plaid Swimwear is most reminiscent of the 1980s as a whole. This two piece bikini has the plaid pattern of a prep and the bright neon colors that the rebels of that day had. This really is a modern preppy swimsuit. I love that this is a full coverage halter style suit so you can tan and play with no worries. This truly is a stylish swimsuit.

Summer 2011 Tie Dye One Piece and Two Piece Bikini Swimwear

While a solid color bathing suit  can be sleek and sophisticated,  a tie dye swimsuit is fun and playful. Tie dye patterns are unique and all are one of a kind from one another. These patterns have come a long way from tie dye of the 1960s and 70s. The patterns, colors, and techniques are much more refined and not as amateur as they once were.  Most of these tie dye wonders tend to be bright and colorful which are great  for showing off a tan. There are a lot of tie dye swimsuits though that are in more muted colors and patterns so you will not feel that you are too old for tie dye. The best part about these bathing suits is that no two are exactly alike making yours a one of a kind creation.

The Cali Dreaming Tie Dye String Bikini is a lined mesh sporty swimsuit in great shades of pink, grey, and white. The colors are bright enough to draw attention and accentuate a tan but are not overly bright that they are harsh against a pale complexion. This string bikini top is triangle shaped and is a great choice if you do not need support. The bottoms of this suit tie on both sides so you will not have wide tan lines top or bottom. If you are unable to wear a bikini that does not offer support, do not be discouraged because there are plenty of other great tie dye swimsuits to wear this summer.

The Vitamin A Gold Collection Tiki Knot Halter is a fuller cut bikini so you will get the coverage that you need without the expense of losing out on style. I love how vivid the pink and green are on this suit and they will really accent a tan so well. The knotted ties on the bikini top give this ordinarily simple style of bathing suit an added style and dimension. The wide tie under the bust line and removable padding make this suit comfortable and supportive. There are a few options for bottoms for this bathing suit. The bottom in the picture below is the Brasilia Bottom is very low cut and has side ties to give the suit a bit of a styling boost.  Even though the suit is a bit skimpy, rest assure this bottom is not going to fall off easily. If you are a still hesitant about this bikini bottom, the Vitamin A Gold Collection Candy Bottom is a bit fuller but that does not mean that it is boring. This suit bottom has interesting ruching on the hip area. Rounding out the picture below is the hand dyed Silk Pareo which you can wear as a sarong skirt or halter dress over this or any other swimsuit.

There are plenty of one piece swimsuits to choose from if you are more comfortable wearing something with a bit more coverage and support.  The MICHAEL Michael Kors Circle Tie Dye Shirred Bandeau Maillot is a muted tie dye swimsuit with circle dye patterns all over.  The gorgeous slate color is one of the hottest and trendiest colors this season. The neck tie through a metal ring holds the suit up well and can easily be untied when tanning to prevent tan lines. The full cut in the rear and the shirring throughout the swimsuit make this very figure flattering. All around this is the perfect bathing suit, it is stylish, supportive, and figure flattering. You can easily play in the sand or water and have no worries exposing yourself due to the suit slipping.

All of the above swimwear as well as the hundreds of other tie dye swimsuits available are a must have for summer 2011. They give an ordinarily simple and basic bikini or one piece an added boost with the great colors and patterns. Go ahead and try a tie dye bathing suit today, you will get a lot of wear and complements from it.

Retro Vintage Inspired One Piece Bathing Suits For Summer 2011

No Comments 29 March 2011

2011 Spring and Summer fashion is all about taking elements  from previous decades,  reinterpreting the best looks,  making them modern and wearable now.  One of the biggest looks now is taken from 1950s fashion and that look is ladylike, feminine,  structured clothing . One of the best ways to see this demure look is with a one piece bathing suit. Back in the 50s the sexiest bathing were not skimpy and revealing like suits of today are. In fact, a sexy 1950s bathing suit did not expose too much skin at all. Now in 2011, these types one piece bathing suits are making a comeback but with modern twists.

The Beach Blanket Bingo One Piece Red Polka Dot Bathing Suit is inspired by the classic movie of the same name. An  all over red with white polka dot suit has a halter top so there is no worry of it falling down while in the water. The legs of this suit are low cut which may take some getting used to if you tend to wear high cut bathing suits but after a few minutes you will not even notice a difference. A modern ruching across the chest shows that you belong in 2011.

Show off all the work you put into the gym with the Glamour Portrait One Piece Bathing Suit. With soft boning along the sides of the suit you will have the figure of a 1950s pinup girl. I love that not only are the straps adjustable, they are removable so you can take them off to get a better tan. The pattern of the suit reminds me of a 80s color and pattern  so you can capture more than one decade in this suit.

This suit actually gives the feel of a suit from the 1920 since is it very modest with boy cut short leg holes. This is a simple suit but the white buckle belt gives this a little punch along with helping accentuate your waist.

Are you looking for a vintage suit that also has a preppy feel to it? The Rainbow Graph bathing suit is similar in style to the Beach Blanket Bingo suit with the low cut legs, halter top, and ruching, but the Rainbow Graph suit is in a preppy plaid. Throw on a pair of oversized shades and you vintage look is complete.

If you want a truly unique looking vintage insprired one piece bathing suit, the Daiquiris on the Deck is THE SUIT for you. This is a faux wood grain print bathing suit with a red sash heart buckle belt. When I think of wood grain I immediately think about picture and movies  from and about the 1950s and the wood grain station wagons that were popular. This is most definitely a retro looking bathing suit.
