The 83rd annual Academy Awards aired on February 27, 2011 and was hosted by Anne Hathaway and James Franco. While it is still early in the show and none of the major awards have been presented yet, the talk of the show so far is all the red dresses that celebrities wore while walking down the red carpet. There were so many women who chose red as the color of their dress for this show and the best thing about this color is that there are so many variations of red so no one looked the same. Some of the stars that could be seen in thus “IT” color were Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana, Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein, Anne Hathaway in Versace, Penelope Cruz in L’Wren Scott, and
Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang. Nicole Kidman who wore a white dress paired it with a great pair of Pierre Hardy shoes.
While most of us can not afford these one of a kind dresses or have an occasion to even wear one this fancy, there are plenty of reasonably priced more demure red dresses to wear this Spring 2011 season.
While none of these women were seen in a red Valentino dress this season, Valentino is often a go to designer for the celebrity crowd and one of my favorite red Valentino dresses is the Valentino Red Bow-Embellished Pencil Dress. This dress is perfect for your own red carpet moments with the figure hugging and gorgeous bow embellished dress.

A great comfortable material is jersey but it tends to be a more casual look. The Helmut Lang Orbit Asymmetrical Dress though is very fashionable and trendy.

If a long dress is what you are looking for and like dramatic dresses as well , the Kirrily Johnston Win the Sky Gown fits the bill.

A very light weight and breezy dress is the Alice + Olivia Patti Pleated Dress with Leather Trim.

Even if you do not want to wear a red dress, you can always pair a pair of red shoes with a different color dress to give a surprising pop.
