When I came across a picture of the Prada Mary Jane Leather boots earlier today, I did not know what to think at first. I thought that it had to a joke and there was no way these could be real. These are flesh colored boots have a red chunky mary jane shoes at the base. Some people think these are ingenious boots and others say that they are a bit freaky, even resembling an artificial leg. I suppose they would look all right if your skin tone was identical to the boot, like pictured on the model on the header. I think they would look a bit odd if they were worn with skinny jeans or pants tucked in or if you have a darker complexion.
These red mary jane boots are part of the Runway to Green project which is between Net-A-Porter (where the boots are sold), Vogue, and a group of designers including Prada, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, and Gucci to name a few. Each participating designer has vowed to investigate sustainable manufacturing practices and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items is given to an environmental charity.

After seeing these boots I researched more and discovered that there were a ton more boots similar in the sense that they are made to look like shoes against skin or a sock. Some of the other shoe boots are not as crazy and are even wearable to me but I still shake my head at the original boots. All of these boots are part of the Prada Fall 2011 Line so expect to see them all for sale late summer.

Even knowing that the proceeds are going to a good cause does that make you feel any different about these boots? What do you think? I would love to know in the comments section below.
