Deborah Lippmann Juicy Couture Holiday 2011 Collection

No Comments 16 October 2011

For the first time ever, Deborah Lippmann is joining forces with Juicy Couture to create amazing exclusive nail polish colors for the 2011 Holiday Season. There will be two 3 piece nail polish sets ( $48 each ) and two hand warmer / nail polish sets ( $68 each )

The first trio which is called Precious Metals is made up of Believe, Here Comes the Queen, and Jewel in the Crown. Since two of the three colors are exclusive to this collection you will need to buy all three colors together.

Believe is a color that was originally made by Deborah Lippmann in collaboration with Cher earlier this year so many may already own this shade but if not you should definitely pick it up on its own or as part of this trio. Believe is described as a Metallic Sizzling Shimmering Gold Beige but that description really does not give it much justice. It is a gorgeous streak free foil finish polish that leans more towards the silver side than it does the gold.
Here Comes The Queen is a Juicy Couture Deborah Lippmann exclusive. The shade is a very sheer gold glaze that can be worn on its own or used layered over another color to add some gold glisten. If you choose to wear it on its own you will need at least 3, possibly four coats of polish to get a decent gold infusion, otherwise the gold is not very visible.
Jewel In The Crown is also a Deborah Lippmann Juicy Couture exclusive and can be described as a shimmering pewter. The shade looks like it may have tiny micro glitter infused adding to the shine and glimmer. Of the three colors, this is the one that is peaking my interest the most.

The other 3 piece collection is called Shimmer and Shine. It includes Bring on the Bling, Whatever Lola Wants, and Since I Fell For You. All of shades that have previously been released on their own so if you do not want the entire set you can buy them individually. If you are interested in all three colors it makes sense to buy the set to save some money. Bring on the Bling sells for $20 and the other two colors sell for $16.

Bring On the Bling is a shade that has been released previously and included real virgin diamond powder. The polish is meant to be worn over other colors to give them a sparkle and shine that otherwise is not present.
Whatever Lola Wants is the shade that Deborah Lippmann created with entertainer Kelly Ripa and named after Kelly’s daughter, Lola. This sparkling lavender is sweet and feminine. A somewhat sheer iridescent lavender, it shimmers and sparkles like a diamond. It is the perfect year round polish.
Since I Fell For You is the only opaque color part of this trio. It dries in a satin shimmer finish. The color is a rich shiraz red color. It is the perfect classic red shade that will never go out of style.

The other part of the Juicy Couture Deborah Lippmann collaboration is with the Hand warmer / Nail Polish Set. Each set comes with a hand warmer and a nail polish in the same shade and meant to be worn together. The hand warmers are fingerless so your nails will show. These sets are perfect if you are a fan of fingerless gloves or just want Jewel in the Crown without the rest of the Precious Metals collection.

Jewel in the Crown: A Juicy Couture and Deborah Lippmann shade exclusive, this shimmering pewter is made for the modern matriarch.
Believe: Inspired by the queen of onstage glam, Cher, this glimmering gold beige gets nails holiday-ready in an instant.

Whether you are a fan of Deborah Lippmann, Juicy Couture, or both these are must haves so hurry out and buy them or put them on your Christmas wish list for Santa to buy you this year.

Cable Knit Sweaters Fall Winter 2011/ 2012

1 Comment 03 October 2011

With the weather cooling down it is time to reorganize closets and drawers, putting away lightweight and sleeveless shirts and replacing them with heavier materials and sweaters. One of my favorite fall and winter 2011 items are cable knit sweaters. Cable knit is not a new trend, in fact it has been a mainstay for centuries but there is nothing better than a  knit sweater on a cold day.  Just because the sweater is cable knit does not mean that it cannot be fashionable or slimming. Not all of these types of sweaters are going to be big, bulky and oversized.

The most common cable sweaters you are going to find are ones that are on the casual side. These sweaters are available in multiple lengths.   For Fall 2011 many of these sweaters are cropped or on the shorter side of full length. One of my favorite is the Juicy Couture Cropped Crew Neck Cable Sweater which comes in a light Khaki as well as a pink. This sweater has cable knit and baubles making it a very fun and playful sweater. Even though it is called a crop sweater it really is not that short. For most, the sweater will end at the waist. You can wear this for work with a skirt or dress pants if your office is not too strict with its dress code. Another great cropped cable sweater is the Jenni Kayne Cable Sweater. The thing that sets this sweater apart from most of the other cable knit sweaters is that the pattern goes horizontally vs. vertically which is how most cable knits are done. I love the neutral blush color of this sweater. It looks great with a leather skirt like the model is wearing but it looks like it would be a very cozy sweater to wear with a pair of jeans when the temperatures really dip down.

I love ombre and when I saw the Bird by Juicy Couture Ombre Cable Turtleneck Sweater I immediately had to order this sweater. The ombre oversized cable knit in the front is great but I love that the back has ombre banding as well as the thick turtleneck. Now if I could only get the temperatures to drop enough to be able to wear this sweater, I will be very happy.

Though I have yet to buy one, a cable knit sweater dress is on my must have list for Fall / Winter 2011. I have narrowed down my favorites to two. The Tibi Cable Knit Sweater Dress has banding at the waist giving the dress more of a shape than most other sweater dresses and the thin cable knit pattern also makes this a very figure flattering dress. My other favorite is the Pencey Cable Knit Sweater Dress. This is a much more casual sweater dress, it even has shredding at the bottom hem. It is also 6 inches shorter than the Tibi dress. Both have their advantages and hopefully soon I will decide on which one will be part of my 2011/ 2012 wardrobe.
