Bright and Colorful ASOS Wrap Dresses

No Comments 12 October 2011

Fall and Winter are a time when bright and vibrant colors disappear from nature and things begin to look drab and gloomy. One way to bring back color into your world is with clothing. One of my favorite articles of clothes are wrap dresses and for the Fall / Winter season ASOS has some really great colorful wrap dresses to choose from. The great hing about these dresses is that for the msot part all of them are less that $75

The ASOS Wrap Dress With Bow Detail comes in red, navy, and nude and is a must have dress.  Mini in length with a deep V-neckline, you can wear this dress to work or out at night though you may want to wear a camisole under the dress for work due to the V-neck. The sleeves of the dress are slim and elbow length so they will not interfere when using your arms with typing or any other activity. The cross waist tie with oversized  bow detail is very slimming on the waist line. Another detail that makes this a very figure flattering dress is the shirred waist in the back of this dress.

Also with a bow is the ASOS Wrap Dress with Tie Waist which is available in Blue, Mustard, and Copper. This dress has a tulip skirt, making this dress very different ( in a good way) from most other wrap dresses. I love the wrap belt which allows you to tie the dress so the bow is either on the side or in the middle of the dress. The dress is most likely not going to be work appropriate but you can get much use from the dress by wearing it out at night.

The ASOS Wrap Pencil Dress with Fitted Skirt is a more conservative dress so it is definitely work appropriate but it also is sexy so you will not look boring. You can definitely wear it for occasions not work related as well. There is a v-neckline but it is not as deep and plunging though if you think you are exposing too much cleavage, try a camisole or tank top underneath this dress. The dress is available in peacock, black, orange, or purple. I love all of the colors for this dress and you can not go wrong with any of them.

Though pricier than the other wrap dresses, the ASOS REVIVE Sequin Wrap Front Mini Dress is a stunning wrap dress that is perfect for any party, including holiday parties that are just around the corner. This gold and blue metallic sequin dress in a zig zag pattern is short and has a plunging neckline making this very sexy. Since there is so much glistening detailing on this dress you should keep your accessories and footwear simple so there will not be competition with the dress.

No matter the occasion,a wrap dress is the answer. They are figure flattering and sexy but many are also conservative enough to wear in professional settings as well. The best thing about these dresses though is that they are available in so many vibrant color choices that you will never look drab and boring in a wrap dress.

Returning from Paphos, a sunny holiday destination, to dreary rainy ol’ England is quite depressing in itself, but what I really miss is being able to walk out in my holiday fashion attire. It was great on holiday to be able to wear lots of summery garments and seeing how other peoples summer wardrobe’s compared. I didn’t go too overboard on the fashion front as in that kind of heat I wanted to be comfortable, but there is one thing I definitely missed out on when packing – a hat.

I have never really been a hat person, they just don’t suit me and make my hair flat to my face, which really, for me, isn’t an attractive look. Whilst taking relaxing strolls around the island I saw so many girls in 1970′s style hats which looked amazing – I could definitely feel myself turning green, which is very noticeable over my burnt skin base ( ha! ). I thought I would show you a selection of hats that are a staple in this season’s look that I love, consequently unlike me, you wont miss out.

I love the bright combination of orange and purple on this hat, definitely a hit for summer. Not only will the oversized style protect your face and head from the sun ( I don’t know about you but a burning scalp is painful?) but it will accessorize a number of outfits. My choice would be to pair it with a simple black maxi dress and gold or tan sandals.

Although Breakfast at Tiffany’s was a 50s film, this hat reminds me very much of Audrey Hepburn’s style. Black is classic and is the epitome of elegance, definitely one to impress.

Floral Floral Floral, this is definitely my favourite. Whimsical and summery, this beauty comes in three different colours and would look great teamed with white.

As I put together my summer must-have list (which definitely includes stripes & tons of sunglasses), I find that #1 is a pleated skirt! So, I’m on the hunt, and I can’t wait to find the perfect style. These are a few on my radar right now. I can’t wait to pick one up & pair it with a big slouchy tee… Which is your favorite, and what would you style it with?

ASOS Tuxedo Jumpsuit With Cut Out Back

1 Comment 01 June 2011

The ASOS Tuxedo Jumpsuit With Cut Out Back is a must have for this summer.

Ordinarily when you hear tuxedo your first thoughts are a formal masculine suit worn by a man but the ASOS Tuxedo Jumpsuit With Cut Out Back is so far from that image. This long pants sleeveless one piece jumpsuit is sexy, stylish, and as feminine as can be. A notch lapel and sash waist tie are elements that resemble a “real” tuxedo but other than that this really does not resemble a tuxedo at all. The deep V neck front and cut out back shows off skin without going overboard. A somewhat fitted top and wide leg pants create a great balance and the sash at the waist will show off your figure.

Since the entire jumpsuit is all black this is a time to experiment with color. Through on a bright red pair of heels like the model is wearing, or take a risk and buy those bright almost neon shoes you have been eying. Since this jumpsuit has a deep V neck you can wear a bold necklace or try layering multiple necklaces together. If you want to wear a simple necklace you can make a statement with a big pair of earrings.

Capture The Menswear For Women Look With A Bow Tie or Neck Tie

No Comments 23 April 2011

The menswear for women look is very popular this season and the easiest way to capture this look is with trouser pants or a vest but the most unique way to try this look , and often the most feminine, is with a neck or bow tie. By wearing a tie, you will most definitely be showing off a unique look that many women are too scared to try themselves. While you can take a regular mens tie and wear it, many times these ties are too large and cumbersome and look a bit strange around a woman’s neck. A solution to this problem is that many designers now are creating ties themselves that are either part of the outfit  or a detachable accessory for the shirt or dress.

The ASOS Pleat Blouse With Tie Neck is a ultra feminine sleeveless A Line pleated blouse with a retro collar and neck tie. This shirt is semi sheer  so you will want to wear a camisole underneath. This shirt looks great untucked, showing off the pleats or you can easily tuck it in if you prefer. This really is an all occasion shirt. You can wear it for work with a blazer covering up your bare arms and then take it off for after work drinks. You can also dress this shirt down and wear it with jeans. This shirt is available in Cream (pictured ) and Nude, each having a black necktie.

Twentysevennames Lydia Floral Shirt Dress With Detachable Bow Tie is another option if you are looking to try this tie trend. The tie on this dress is detachable so you can easily wear this dress without the tie if you would prefer. The dress itself is quite busy with its all over floral print and is designed to look like the skirt and the top are separate, and not one piece. This dress really is very feminine and the bow time gives it a bit of a masculine edge to it.

Not all ties are attached to or even sold with a shirt. There are some really great, very unique, ties that you can pair with your clothes on your own. There are a lot of black and white traditional bow and neckties to wear but I really love the ASOS Bow Tie Body Pin with Mini Braces Clips. This is a very unusual tie, in fact it is really jewelry and not a traditional fabric material. This pin bow tie is a silver tone metal mesh pendant on a twisted rope chain and has miniature brace clip fastenings. As you can see in the picture below you should keep your clothign simple and use this as your accent piece. To play off the masculine / feminine look keep your jewelry to a minimum, perhaps only wearing a simple studded earring in your ears. For bracelets in rings, you can mix it up with simple pieces and perhaps a single ulta feminine ring.

Wearing a necktie that is not pre-tied may seem daunting but tying a tie yourself is not easy to learn especially with a great tutorial video showing you how.

Bright and Colorful Trench Coats

No Comments 14 April 2011

Spring and summer are a time when pop up rain showers are quite common. It can be a bright and sunny day and then all of a sudden the skies turn grey and buckets of rain come crashing down. It is best to be prepared for this type of weather with a coat of some sort. As practical as they may be a beige trench coat is not always the most attractive and fashionable choice.  The good news is that there are so many other colors of trench coats that you can wear. These brightly  colored coats will may a dreary day bright and enhance your outfit.

The ASOS Pleated Swing Trench Coat is available in a bright blue color that will be sure to brighten up the dreariness outside. Most trench coats are shapeless and a belt is needed to create any sort of shape but this trench  is pleated at the skirt and  has a defined waist so it will enhance your figure. The gun flaps at the shoulders and belted cuffs add to the style of this coat.

Though it is available in camel as well as black, the green ASOS Classic Trench Coat is the perfect choice for a coat that is traditional in style but not in color. This coat is a belted double breasted cotton trench coat with a pleated vent at the back to allow movement. The gunflaps at the shoulder are button down adding to the style of the trench. The sleeves have a belted buckle detail that matches the belt at the waist.

Orange is one of the “IT” colors for spring and summer 2011 so it is great to find a trench coat in this vivid color. The ASOS ’60s Trench With Contrast Trim is the perfect shade of orange and has a modern 1960s feel to it. This A line coat with a large vent in the back is very figure flattering. The contrasting black piping on the rounded collar, shoulders, and neck area give this coat a very mod vibe to it. If you like the style and shape of the coat but are a bit hesitant about the color, this is available in a great shade of blue as well. This trench coat is a bit shorter than others so keep that in mid if wearing a mini skirt, you want to make sure the hem of the skirt is longer than the coat, otherwise it may appear that you are not wearing anything on the bottom.

Though it is not bright and colorful, the ASOS Striped Collarless Trench is vivid in pattern. With all over horizontal stripes all the way around this coat, cropped length sleeves, and no collar, this coat is far from your basic everyday trench. This coat is tapered at the waist so it will help define your shape. The collarless trench is a great coat to wear not only in bad weather but over a dress or skirt on a cool day when you need an extra layer. Like the previous coat mentioned, this is short in length so keep this in mind when getting dressed.

While a dreary day is full of grey and the sun is nowhere to be seen, a small glimmer of the bright yellow sun can be seen in the ASOS Collarless Belted Trench in Yellow. An adjustable belt with gold tone eyelets and full length sleeves make this a practical and fashionable trench coat. This is the perfect color, shape, and length coat to wear with jeans a T-shirt.

The best thing about all of these coats is that since they do not look like a traditional trench coat, you can wear these coats when it is not raining and look like you are wearing a normal spring coat. These coats will carry you over to the fall and future years so you will get your money’s worth out of any of them. If you like any of the shapes of the coat but are unsure about the color, many are available in traditional beige colors as well as other bright and fun colors.
